Sample Collection
The recommended specimen for the Rapid FPV Ag test is feline feces. BIONOTE specifically states that blood or serum is not the appropriate specimen for this FPV antigen kit.
A fecal sample may be collected directly from feces or from the rectum using the supplied collection swab.
General Test Procedure
- Collect an appropriate amount of feline fecal specimen using the supplied swab.
- Insert the swab into the sample dilution tube.
- Mix the specimen thoroughly with the diluent.
- Remove the swab while squeezing it against the tube wall to recover the sample.
- Using the supplied disposable dropper, transfer the prepared sample to the test device.
- Allow the sample to migrate through the test window.
- Read the result at approximately 10 minutes.
- Interpret the result according to the manufacturer's current Instructions for Use.

Result Interpretation
Negative
Only the Control (C) line appears.
This indicates that the test did not detect FPV antigen in the specimen at the applicable detection level.
Positive
Both the Control (C) and Test (T) lines appear.
This indicates that Feline Panleukopenia Virus antigen has been detected.
Invalid
If the required control line does not appear, the result is invalid and the test should be repeated with a new device.
Important Diagnostic Information
The Rapid FPV Ag test is intended as an initial screening/diagnostic aid. BIONOTE states that test results should not be used alone to establish a final diagnosis; clinical signs and other laboratory findings should also be considered by a veterinarian.
